Purified split inactivated influenza virus [type A (H1N1) 15 mcg, type A (H3N2) 15 mcg, type B 15 mcg]
Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Adult & childn >36 mth 0.5 mL single dose, 6-35 mth 0.25 mL. Childn <9 yr who have not been infected vaccinated previously 2 doses w/ an interval of at least 4 wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to egg, chicken, or any other chicken component. Febrile or malnourished patients. Acute or gradually serious or active CV, kidney & liver disease. Acute resp disease or other active infectious disease. Patients in latent period & convalescence. Fever or generalized rash w/in 2 days after previous vaccination. Guillain-Barré syndrome w/in 6 wk after previous vaccination or neurological disorders. Unhealthy state.
Special Precautions
Do not inj IV. Chronic CV & resp disorders or diabetes. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Redness, pain, swelling at inj site, fever, rigor, headache, vomiting & fatigue, encephalomyelitis, transient disorder of systemic & local nervous systems eg, palsy, neuralgia.
Drug Interactions
Anti-epilepsy drugs (eg, phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbitone), theophylline, warfarin, Ig, immune inhibitory agents (eg, corticosteroid, cyclosporine, anti-cancer drugs including RT).
